Aurum club

Aurum club was inaugurated in the year 2016 when the department was started. The purpose of the club is to organize programs to develop awareness and concern for scientific principles in personal, social, environmental and technological contexts. The club encourages students to enthusiastically participate in the activities organized by the club.

ONE DAY TRIP - 09/03/2022

Final year students of Chemistry Department went on a one day trip to MGM Dizzee World on March 09, 2022. The fun and adventurous trip enlivened students by helping them come out of their confines and served as a stress buster. Students were taught the water management practices followed in the Theme Park.

45th CHENNAI BOOK FAIR VISIT - 03/03/2022

 

'Today a reader, tomorrow a leader'
Final year students of Chemistry Department visited 45th Chennai Book Fair organized by BAPASI on March 03, 2022 at YMCA, Nandanam. Students eagerly visited various book stalls and purchased books of their interests.

NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATION 2022

   

To commemorate the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian Physicist Sir. C. V. Raman, National Science Day is observed every year on the 28th of February. On this occasion, the Departments of Basic Science (Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry) in association with the Centre for Student Development – Institution’s Innovation Council of our College organised activities in the schools in and around Chennai from February 25, 2022, to March 2, 2022. Demonstration of the concepts of Basic Science provided the school students with opportunities to develop and practice different skills and attributes. The college students demonstrated the process of scientific investigation which helped the school students to develop a broad understanding of concepts in Basic Sciences. A total of 900 students from fifteen schools in and around Chennai benefited from this activity.

CHEMFEST - FEBRUARY 2022

     Aurum Club of Chemistry Department organized 'CHEMFEST' which focuses on giving exposure to students on real life examples related to chemistry. The events in Chemfest encourages students to go above and beyond their textual knowledge with extensive research. The events were open to all college students.

LECTURE ON 'SPECTROSCOPY - AN OVERVIEW' - 28/01/2022

The Aurum Club organized an In-House Lecture on 'Spectroscopy - An Overview' via Google Meet on January 28, 2022 at 4.00 pm. As spectroscopy plays a major role in scientific research, the fundamental concepts of Spectroscopy were introduced to the I, II and III year students of the Chemistry Department.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF FOREST

     The Barefoot Environmentalist, Tulsi Gowda is a Halakki Tribal Woman from Karnataka known for possessing endless knowledge of plants and herbs. She has planted more than 30,000 saplings and has been involved in environmental conservation activities for the past six decades. She was honored with Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India, on 8 November 2021.

DIWALI CELEBRATION - 01/11/2021

A debate on 'Are Firecrackers Essential?' was conducted by the Department of Chemistry on the account of  National Festival Diwali. Students of Chemistry Department were split into two teams and they had a logical pursuit of dispute. Students thought critically and shared their views on celebrating Diwali with crackers and without crackers.

BEAUTY AND THE CHEMISTS - 25/10/2021

Cosmetics add extra elegance to our appearance and has become an inhabitable part of women's lives in today's world. The chemicals utilised as a part of making these skincare products change from brand to brand, and everybody’s needs. Therefore, it is important to explore the cosmetic world.

Aurum Club conducted an Inter Departmental PowerPoint Presentation Competition 'Beauty And The Chemists' on October 25, 2021 which focuses on the contribution of chemistry to the cosmetic world.

We are very delighted that we got to see the enthusiastic participants presenting their best. We appreciate all the participants for their effort and contribution because no event can be a success without its participants.
