INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE- CNGI 2024

The Department of Chemistry, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women organized a two-day International Conference on “Catalysing Nanoscience for Greener Innovation- CNGI 2024” on 7^th and 8^th February 2024. This event was conducted in collaboration with the Concil of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST) Government of Tamil Nadu, Tirunelveli Dakshina Mara Nadar Sangam College, Affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, Department of Research and Analytics, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai. Many young scientists and research scholars proposed their projects and ideas in the conference for a better world in the future.  

Alumni Meet 2024

Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women organized an Alumni Meet for the past students on 26th January 2024. The past students of the Chemistry Department took part in it and relived their nostalgic college days.

தமிழர் திருநாள் கொண்டாட்டம் - 12/01/2024

பொங்கல், உழைக்கும் மக்கள் இயற்கைத் தெய்வமாகக் கருதப்படும் சூரியனுக்கும், மற்ற உயிர்களுக்கும் சொல்லும் ஒரு நன்றியறிதலாகக் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. இந்த ஆண்டு நம் கல்லூரியில் 12/01/2024 அன்று பொங்கல் நிகழ்ச்சி நடைபெற்றது. அந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் அனைத்து துறை மாணவியரும் பங்கேற்ற மகிழ்ச்சியாக கொண்டாடினர். பல்வேறு போட்டிகளான கயிறு இழுத்தல், நாட்டுப்புற நடனங்கள் மற்றும் உரியடிதல்  நடைபெற்றது. இதில்  வேதியியல் துறை மாணவிகளும் கலந்துகொண்டு பொங்கலிட்டு தமிழர் திருநாளை சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடினர்.

Capacity Building Program

Department of Chemistry organized a Capacity Building Program for the students of III BSc Chemistry from 18/12/2023 to 28/12/2023. The students visited the Chennai Diagnostic Centre at Peravallur and learned about the Principles, Working, and Construction of various instruments in the laboratory.

INTERNATIONAL E-CONFERENCE

 The Students of the Chemistry Department have presented Research Papers at the National Level Conference on Advanced Research Trends in Chemistry (ARTC-23) which was conducted by Tirunelveli Dakshina Mara Nadar Sangam College on 29th September 2023.

Ms. Yuvasree. R of BSc Chemistry 2019-2022 has secured Madras University Fifth rank.

 

Ayudha Pooja - 25/10/2023

 The Department of Chemistry celebrated Ayudha Pooja on 25/10/2023 and showed respect towards all the chemical apparatus.  

LECTURE- 13/10/2023

On the occasion of Institution Innovation Day, The Department of Chemistry in association with the Center of Student Development organized a lecture on " Developmental Ideas Propounded by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam on 13/10/2023, Friday to give students a brief about the views of Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam. The Resource Person of the session was Mrs. P. Amalthi, Assistant Professor, IIC Innovation Ambassador, Department of Chemistry, CTTE College for Women.

ELOCUTION COMPETITION- 13/10/2023

On account of Youth Awakening Day, The Department of Chemistry Conducted an Interdepartmental Elocution Competition on the topic "Youth and Scientific Innovation" on 13/10/2023. The Event was Judged by Mrs. J. Saranya, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications.

On account of World Heart Day, The Department of Chemistry conducted an Interdepartmental Poster Presentation Competition on 29/09/2023 with the theme "USE HEART, KNOW HEART". The Event was judged by Mrs. P. Sandhya Mohanan, Department of French, CTTE College for Women

As a sign, of Celebrating India's successful soft landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the Moon's South Pole for the very first time in history. Rithika K of III BSc Chemistry Painted a picture of Vikram Lander on the surface of the Moon.

PANEL DISCUSSION - 31/08/2023

 The Department of Chemistry in association with the Centre for Student Development organized " A Panel Discussion - Startup Ecosystem" on 31/08/2023, Thursday. The students were introduced to a new field of start-up business through the panel discussion.

ONAM CELEBRATION - 2023

Students of the Chemistry Department participated in the Pookolam Competition on 31/08/2023 which was conducted on the occasion of Onam - Harvest Festival and won first and third place.

KALAKIRAN - 2023

 Students of the Chemistry department took part in the Culturals Kalakiran-2023 off-stage events which were conducted on 11/08/2023 Friday. Students participated in Junk art, Vegetable carving, Face Painting, and Newspaper dressing competitions and showcased their creativity.

ONE DAY TRIP - 05/08/2023

 Second and third-year students of the chemistry department were taken for a one-day trip to MGM Dizzee World on 5th August 2023, Saturday. This fun-filled adventurous trip paved the way to come out of their routine life.

FRESHER'S TALENT MEET - 2023

 Fresher's Talent meet was organized by The Department of Basic Sciences (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) on 28th July 2023, Friday from 10.30 AM - 12.00 PM. Ist year students of the department of chemistry took part and showcased their talents.

EDUCATIONAL FILM

The Department of Chemistry played an educational film - "IRUMBU PENMANI" on 14/07/2023 for all the students to integrate basic qualities.

 

CHANDRAYAAN-3 LAUNCH

Chandrayaan-3 ISRO's third lunar exploration mission was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh on 14/07/2023 at 2.35 pm. The launch of Chandrayaan-3 was live telecasted by the college. The students of the Chemistry Department enthusiastically witnessed the launch.

MOCK DRILL - 13/07/2023

 The Fire and Rescue Service Department of Perambur visited our college and a mock drill was conducted on how to handle the safety equipment such as life jackets, and oxygen cylinder during any natural calamity. The mechanism behind the fire extinguisher was also explained. All the students from the chemistry department took part in the program and gained knowledge. 

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION - 06/06/2023

World Environment Day 2023 was celebrated by The Department of Chemistry in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 06/06/2023. The Resource Person DR. T. Augustine Arul Prasad, Associate Professor Department of Chemistry, DG Vaishnav College, Chennai gave a brief lecture about the necessity to save the environment for future generations. The students of the Chemistry department gave a demonstration on Paper Recycling, Natural Compost, Soil Erosion, and Biodiversity in the college was also presented as a report.
